ZSI Western Regional Centre, Pune Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Patriotism, Service and a Green Commitment

The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Western Regional Centre, Pune marked the 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026 with a flag hoisting, anthem, cultural events and a tree‑plantation drive called “Tiranga Vanam”. The programme linked patriotism with biodiversity conservation, emphasizing the slogan “Freedom belongs to every species” and the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”. Dr Basudev Tripathy, Officer‑in‑Charge, urged staff to serve the nation through scientific research, documentation and conservation, reinforcing the Centre’s commitment to protecting India’s natural heritage.
