Central Railway celebrates 80th Independence Day; GM Shri Rajeev Shrivastava hoists National Flag at Central Railway Headquarters
On 15 August 2026, Shri Rajeev Shrivastava, General Manager of Central Railway, hoisted the National Flag at the Central Railway Headquarters, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai, marking the 80th Independence Day. In his address he highlighted the zone’s contributions, emphasized safety and punctuality, and congratulated Head Constable Shri Shankar Shivswami Edle for receiving the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service. The GM announced the up‑gradation of 22 suburban services on the CSMT‑Karjat/Khopoli section from 12‑coach to 15‑coach trains, raising the total 15‑coach services on Central Railway to 54, and the conversion of 11 mail and passenger trains to regular status. The event also featured RPF parade, cultural performances and a balloon release.
