12 Years of Transformation: PM Modi Highlights India’s Progress in Independence Day Address
In his Independence Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked 12 years of transformation, citing multi‑fold increases in defence, khadi, electronics, railway coach and mobile phone production; a four‑fold rise in internet users, patent grants and digital transactions; and accelerated delivery of basic amenities such as tap‑water, LPG and toilets. He announced the launch of the National Critical Mineral Mission, progress in semiconductor plants, expansion of energy sources (city gas, piped cooking gas, solar), near‑complete railway electrification and the first Made‑in‑India hydrogen train. The address also highlighted affordable fertiliser, expanded FTAs, youth‑centred schemes, growth in startups, defence exports and social security coverage.
