AYJNISHD Mumbai celebrates 80th Independence Day with focus on inclusion and Viksit Bharat 2047

The Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (AYJNISHD), Mumbai, marked India’s 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026, aligning the event with the national theme ‘Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat @2047’. The ceremony began with the flag hoisting by Dr Suman Kumar, Director, AYJNISHD(D), Mumbai, followed by the National Anthem rendered in Indian Sign Language, ensuring participation of persons with hearing impairments. Speakers highlighted the nation’s progress, the need for inclusive access to basic services, and the role of emerging technologies—Artificial Intelligence, Digital India initiatives, and the BHASHINI platform—in enhancing communication for persons with disabilities. The institute reiterated its commitment to building an inclusive society and contributing to the vision of a developed India by 2047.
