Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the 80th Independence Day, recalling the sacrifices of freedom fighters and expressing solidarity with flood‑affected families. He outlined the vision of a ‘Developed India’ by 2047, citing achievements such as a 4‑fold rise in defence production, 5‑fold increase in khadi and village industry output, 7‑fold growth in electronic manufacturing, 21‑fold rise in modern railway coach production, and a 35‑fold surge in mobile phone manufacturing. The speech highlighted self‑reliance initiatives – semiconductor plants, critical mineral corridors, nuclear power targets (100 GW by 2047, five new reactors), renewable energy expansion (solar capacity from 2 GW to 160 GW), and extensive infrastructure projects (metro, rail electrification, hydrogen train). It also stressed reforms, skill development, and youth empowerment across sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, technology, defence, and soft power.
