HONOURS AND AWARDS ON THE OCCASION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY 2026

The Ministry of Defence announced the gallantry awards conferred on Army personnel on Independence Day 2026. Three Kirti Chakras (including one post‑humous) were awarded, along with one Bar to Shaurya Chakra, eleven Shaurya Chakras (including one post‑humous), five Bars to Sena Medal (Gallantry) and thirty‑six Sena Medals (Gallantry) (five post‑humous). Additionally, seventy‑five personnel received Mention‑in‑Despatches for operations such as Rakshak, Snow Leopard, Hifazat, Orchid, Meghdoot, Falcon and other miscellaneous missions. The release includes a detailed list of awardees and their units, confirming the numbers and post‑humous status where applicable.
