Raksha Mantri interacts with Indian Army contingent which bagged 16 medals, including 08 Gold, at Commonwealth Games 2026

On 14 August 2026, Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh interacted with the Indian Army contingent that secured 16 medals (8 Gold, 7 Silver, 1 Bronze) at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The Defence Forces overall contributed 18 of India's 39 medals. The Minister highlighted the athletes as a "perfect blend of a soldier and a champion" and praised their inspiration for youth, especially noting women boxers' success as a testament to growing Nari Shakti. Notable firsts included India’s first Commonwealth Games Gold in Judo, first Silver in High Jump, and historic medals in Para Shot Put and Weightlifting.
