Logistics Data Bank Tracks 10 Crore EXIM Containers, Provides Visibility across Logistics Chain

The Logistics Data Bank (LDB), launched in 2016, has tracked 10 crore export‑import containers, offering 100 percent visibility of container movement across India through RFID‑based technology. It covers 19 ports, 32 terminals, 103 inland container depots, 439 freight stations, 5,569 railway stations, 269 toll plazas and three Integrated Check Posts, among other facilities. LDB 2.0, introduced in September 2025, added high‑seas tracking and multimodal shipment visibility. The platform uses RFID, IoT, big‑data and cloud technologies to provide near‑real‑time analytics on dwell time, transit time and terminal performance. The World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index has recognised LDB’s contribution to India’s logistics performance. The service averages over 1.5 crore container searches per month and is accessible via the single‑window portal www.ldb.co.in. NICDSL, a joint venture between the Government of India and NEC Corporation, manages the platform.
