CASES OF FAKE ST CERTIFICATES

Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey told the Lok Sabha that the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is the nodal Ministry for notifying a community as a Scheduled Tribe under Article 342, while the issuance and verification of Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificates is the responsibility of the respective State Government or Union Territory Administration. All complaints, grievances or representations on ST certificates are forwarded to the concerned State/UT administration. The Ministry has issued advisories to ensure proper verification and timely issuance of ST certificates, with recent advisories dated 10 March 2026 and 13 May 2026.
