Investigation into Air India Flight AI 2379 (Phuket–Delhi) of 04.08.2026

On 04 August 2026, Air India flight AI 2379 (Airbus A320, VT‑EXO) from Phuket to Delhi experienced a sudden altitude change of about 300 feet during cruise but later stabilised and landed safely. Twenty passengers and four cabin crew were injured. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has taken up the investigation under DGCA information and ICAO protocols, notifying ICAO and the concerned States. France’s BEA and Airbus technical representatives are providing assistance as per ICAO rules. AAIB is collecting and analysing technical, operational, medical and human‑factor evidence, and will issue preliminary findings within the stipulated timeframe, emphasizing confidentiality and the need to avoid premature conclusions.
