GeM Strengthens Participation of MSMEs, Startups, Women Entrepreneurs and SHGs

The Government e‑Marketplace (GeM) has registered 11,75,001 MSMEs, 37,758 start‑ups, 2,17,155 women entrepreneurs and 3,784 SHGs across India as of 30 July 2026. MSME procurement through GeM rose to ₹2.37 lakh crore in FY 2025‑26, up from ₹59,033 crore in FY 2021‑22. GeM now employs AI/ML‑based analytical models to flag suspicious procurement patterns such as order‑splitting, buyer‑seller collusion and abnormal pricing, and shares these cases with buyer organisations. The platform leverages the Competition Commission of India toolkit to detect potential cartels and has an Incident Management framework that led to 55,772 seller suspensions in FY 2025‑26. Safeguards include a fully online vendor registration process and advanced analytics for anomaly detection.
