ASSISTANCE TO COASTAL FISHERMEN

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying reports that national fish production rose from 147.25 lakh tonnes in 2020‑21 to 197.75 lakh tonnes in 2024‑25. Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), an investment of Rs 20,750 crore has been allocated since FY 2020‑21, while the Fisheries & Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) was launched in 2018‑19 with a corpus of Rs 7,522.48 crore. In the last five years, 28 fishing harbour, 25 fish landing centre and 23 dredging projects were approved under PMMSY (total cost Rs 3,741.89 crore) and 94 harbour/landing projects under FIDF (cost Rs 4,916.46 crore). The Kisan Credit Card scheme was extended to fishers and fish farmers from FY 2018‑19. State‑wise project details under PMMSY for 2020‑21 to 2025‑26 are provided in the annexure.
