MDoNER and CHEMEXCIL Organise Industry Summit on Prospects & Export of Agarwood Oil from India

The Ministry of Development of North‑Eastern Region (MDoNER) and the Chemicals and Allied Products Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL) held an Industry Summit in New Delhi on 11 August 2026 to discuss prospects and export of agarwood oil from India, especially the North‑Eastern Region (NER). The summit featured senior officials including MoS Dr Sukanta Majumdar, MDoNER secretaries, and CHEMEXCIL chairperson, who highlighted the need for investment, advanced extraction technology, brand building and global alliances. A Roadmap for Agarwood Export Promotion from the NER was released, outlining coordinated actions among central ministries, state governments, scientific institutions and export councils. The roadmap builds on an Inter‑Ministerial Task Force (Nov 2023) and an Agarwood Steering Group (Feb 2025), and includes measures such as export‑quota enhancement, digitisation of Certificate of Origin, resource mapping, GI registration and the establishment of an Agarwood Export Promotion Cell (May 2026).
