DISCOMS DIGITALISATION

The Ministry of Power outlined the status of DISCOM digitalisation under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). Under RDSS, projects worth Rs 1.53 lakh crore for loss‑reduction infrastructure and Rs 1.31 lakh crore for smart‑metering have been sanctioned across 28 states and 45 distribution utilities. Smart‑metering works cover 19.79 crore consumers, 2.05 lakh feeders and 52.53 lakh distribution transformers; SCADA/DMS works for 394 towns amount to Rs 2,627 crore; IT/OT works (ERP, GIS, RT‑DAS) total Rs 3,999 crore; and smart‑distribution works total Rs 8,608 crore for seven cities. Funds released since FY 2023 total Rs 47,124 crore, including Rs 2,733 crore for smart‑metering. Additionally, the India Energy Stack (IES) has been launched to enable universal digital data exchange, and Rs 100.9 crore has been allocated for training, with 14,853 personnel trained to date.
