ACHIEVEMENTS AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT UNDER THE PM SVANIDHI SCHEME
The Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme, launched on 1 June 2020, has extended collateral‑free working‑capital loans to urban street vendors. By 12 July 2026, 76.95 lakh vendors received over 1.15 crore loans totalling ₹18,475 crore. ISB studies (2023, 2025) covering >5,000 beneficiaries across 100 ULBs found that 95 % received their first bank loan, business income rose ~20 % between 2023‑2025, and digital‑payment adoption increased markedly. Around 30 % of borrowers now hold additional loans, indicating credit‑history building. The scheme also provides cash‑back incentives for digital transactions (₹875 crore in digital trades, ₹412 crore cashback) and links beneficiaries to eight central welfare programmes under the ‘SVANidhi se Samriddhi’ component.
