Government of India notifies 11 more International Ports, enabling entry of E-Visa holder foreigners into India

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced that 11 new international ports – nine land ports and two airports – have been added, raising the total number of ports where E‑Visa holders can enter India to 88 (37 airports, 38 seaports, 13 land ports). The government claims that about 95% of E‑Visa applications are processed within 72 hours and that roughly 78% of all Indian visas are now issued electronically. The e‑Visa scheme, launched in 2014 for 43 countries, is now available to nationals of 172 countries across 17 sub‑categories, including tourist, business, medical and student visas.
