Redesigning of PMKVY Courses

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship reports that under PMKVY 4.0 (FY 2022‑23 onward) 600+ new‑age courses such as AI, robotics, green energy and EVs have been launched. By 30 June 2026, 5.44 lakh candidates were trained in these futuristic roles. Across all PMKVY versions, 56.89 lakh candidates were certified in Short‑Term Training (STT) with a cumulative placement rate of 42.8 %. Third‑party evaluations (NITI Aayog, IIPA, AJNIFM) indicate higher employment and income gains for trainees. FY 2023‑27 funds released total ₹2,392.37 crore, with FY 2024‑25 receiving the highest release (₹1,538 crore). The scheme is demand‑driven, integrates On‑Job Training, and leverages industry‑led Sector Skill Councils and the Skill India Digital Hub for employer‑candidate matching.
