Assessment of Skill Development Initiatives

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) released an assessment of its Skill India Mission covering training, placement and impact data for the period 2019‑20 to 2026‑27. It details state‑wise numbers of candidates trained under PMKVY, JSS, NAPS and CTS schemes, with 28,142 candidates placed under PMKVY (versions 1.0‑3.0) in Chhattisgarh. Independent third‑party evaluations by the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM) report that PMKVY 4.0 raised the combined employment/self‑employment share of short‑term trainees from 26.6 % to 45.4 % and increased income for 41.4 % (STT) and 48.9 % (RPL) of participants. The JSS scheme enrolled 33.94 lakh individuals, 99 % success rate, with women constituting 82 % and 90 % of alumni generating income post‑training. NAPS engaged 34.69 lakh apprentices (≈75 % of target) and introduced Direct Benefit Transfer for financial transparency.
