DRI uncovers another clandestine drug manufacturing unit in Maharashtra

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted a week‑long intelligence‑led operation in Maharashtra, uncovering an organised network that clandestinely manufactured 1 lakh Tramadol Hydrochloride tablets and 1 lakh Tapentadol tablets. The tablets, concealed in an export consignment at Mumbai Air Cargo Complex, were intended for illegal export to Nigeria. DRI seized the tablets, associated compression machinery, raw materials, and arrested three key accused – the exporter, supplier‑coordinator and manufacturer. The operation highlights the link between illicit drug manufacture and transnational trafficking, and underscores enforcement under the NDPS Act and Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
