PERIODIC LABOUR FORCE SURVEY (PLFS) Quarterly Bulletin April – June, 2026
The Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) Quarterly Bulletin for April‑June 2026 reports that the overall Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) for persons aged 15 years and above was 54.6%, down from 55.5% in the previous quarter. Urban LFPR remained unchanged at 50.2%, while male urban LFPR rose marginally to 75.3% from 75.0%. The urban Worker Population Ratio (WPR) held steady at 46.8%. Regular wage/salaried employment increased to 16.1% in rural areas (from 15.5%) and to 49.3% in urban areas (from 48.9%). Employment in the secondary sector grew in both rural (to 24.4%) and urban areas (to 31.9%). Urban unemployment rate (UR) stayed broadly stable at 6.7%. The survey covered 5,59,673 persons (2,40,881 urban, 3,18,792 rural) and estimated 56.6 crore workers aged 15 + were employed nationwide.
