MANUFACTURING OF AYUSH DRUGS

The Ministry of AYUSH has been running the Pharmacovigilance Programme for AYUSH drugs since 2018 to monitor safety and curb misleading advertisements. Integrated under the AYUSH Oushadhi Gunavatta evam Uttpadan Samvardhan Yojana (AOGUSY) in 2021, the programme operates through a three‑tier network of one National, five Intermediary and 97 Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centres. An IT‑enabled portal, “Ayush Suraksha”, was launched in 2025 to track misleading/objectionable advertisements and adverse drug reactions, receiving 34,061 complaints over 2023‑2025 (7,771; 10,161; 16,129). The Ministry has conducted 4,165 awareness programmes benefitting 371,477 participants and issued public notices in 100 newspapers to inform consumers about false claims.
