PRESS RELEASE ON 201st REPORT OF DEPARTMENT RELATED PARLIAMENTARY STANDING COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE

The Department‑Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce, chaired by Ms Dola Sen, laid its 201st report ‘Doing Business in India: The Way Forward’ on 7 August 2026. The report evaluates existing reforms, highlights bottlenecks and proposes measures to improve India’s business ecosystem. Key recommendations include expanding the Reducing Compliance Burden programme, strengthening the Regulatory Compliance Portal, institutionalising the District Business Reform Action Plan, enhancing the National Single Window System with real‑time dashboards and deemed‑approval mechanisms, de‑criminalising minor business offences, and improving credit access for MSMEs through digital public infrastructure. The Committee also urges sector‑specific compliance roadmaps, unified inspection authorities and capacity‑building for municipal officials.
