Union Minister for Education Reaffirms India's Commitment to a People-Centric and Humanity-First Approach to BRICS Cooperation, at the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting

At the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting in Bhubaneswar, Union Minister for Education Shri Pralhad Joshi chaired the session and reaffirmed India’s commitment to a people‑centric, humanity‑first approach to BRICS cooperation. The meeting adopted the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Declaration, which outlines five priority areas: early childhood care and foundational literacy, skill development and TVET, research‑innovation‑start‑up ecosystems, mutual recognition of qualifications, and capacity building for academic leadership. The declaration also stresses preserving traditional and indigenous knowledge and promotes the use of ethical AI in education. India’s BRICS Chairship 2026 theme – “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” – frames these initiatives, with the next BRICS Summit slated for New Delhi in September 2026.
