TEXT OF THE REFERENCE MADE BY THE HON'BLE CHAIRMAN, RAJYA SABHA ON THE 84TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HISTORIC QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT

On 9 August 2026, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha marked the 84th anniversary of the Quit India Movement, which was launched on 9 August 1942 under Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership. The reference highlighted the movement’s “Do or Die” call, the severe repression faced by participants, and their role in accelerating India’s independence achieved in 1947.
