No concession or commitment on import of Ethanol for fuel blending from the United States

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry clarified that media reports claiming India is importing large quantities of ethanol from the United States for fuel blending are inaccurate. According to the domestic policy framework governing the Ethanol Blended with Petrol Programme, all ethanol used for blending is sourced from domestic producers, and no ethanol is imported from the U.S. The ministry also stated that no concessions or commitments concerning ethanol imports have been made in India‑U.S. trade discussions, indicating that the existing fuel‑blending policy remains unchanged and solely based on domestic requirements.
