LOK SABHA SPEAKER PAYS FLORAL TRIBUTES TO DR. G. S. DHILLON ON HIS BIRTH ANNIVERSARY

On 6 August 2026, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla paid floral tributes to former Speaker Dr G.S. Dhillon in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, marking Dhillon’s birth anniversary. Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Shri Harivansh, former MPs, Lok Sabha Secretary‑General Shri Utpal Kumar Singh and other dignitaries also participated. The release notes that Dr Dhillon (born 6 August 2015, Amritsar) was a freedom fighter, journalist, chief editor of the Urdu daily *Sher‑e‑Bharat* and Managing Director of National Sikh Newspapers Ltd., elected to the Fourth Lok Sabha from Taran Taran in 1967, and served as Speaker of the Fourth (from 8 Aug 1969) and Fifth Lok Sabha (re‑elected 22 Mar 1971) until 1 Dec 1975. His portrait, painted by Shri Samir Das, was unveiled by President Shri Pranab Mukherjee on 10 Feb 2014 and is displayed in the Outer Lobby of Samvidhan Sadan.
