DRI busts illegal drug manufacturing unit in Satara district in Maharashtra; two arrested

On 1 August 2026, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted an intelligence‑led operation in Satara district, Maharashtra, and busted an illegal manufacturing unit producing the psychotropic drugs Alprazolam and Diazepam, both listed under the NDPS Act 1985. Searches recovered about 1 kg of finished Alprazolam, over 15 kg of Alprazolam in intermediary form, roughly 3.75 kg of Diazepam, and approximately 400 litres of raw materials and reaction mixtures. Two individuals were arrested at the site, and a third suspect, the intended buyer from Pune, was apprehended in a follow‑up operation. All seizures were made under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.
