Indian Railways Operates 19 Rail Neer Plants Across the Country, Supplying Safe Packaged Drinking Water to Passengers

The Ministry of Railways reports that Indian Railways operates 19 ‘Rail Neer’ packaged drinking‑water plants across the country, each with a capacity of 1 lakh bottles per day. The plants are located in Delhi, Bihar, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. IRCTC is tasked with setting up additional plants where demand warrants, using a public‑private partnership model that costs about ₹10 crore per plant (excluding land).
