AGRICULTURAL ROAD MAPS BASED ON AGRO-CLIMATIC CONDITIONS

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has initiated Agricultural Action Plans for Assam, Goa, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The agricultural roadmaps are being prepared jointly by ICAR, the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, ICAR institutes, state governments, state agricultural universities and experts, based on agro‑climatic regions, natural‑resource endowments, climate‑resilience, technological interventions and farmers’ needs. The roadmaps aim to enhance productivity, profitability and resource‑use efficiency, guide states in formulating annual action plans, and target outcomes such as higher farmer incomes, greater self‑sufficiency, rural employment generation and sustainable growth of agriculture.
