ZERO TOLERANCE FOR DRUG TRAFFICKERS

The Ministry of Home Affairs, through the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), has outlined a ‘Zero Tolerance’ approach to drug trafficking, detailing actions such as the release of the Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026‑2029), establishment of a 4‑tier Narco‑Coordination Centre (NCORD) and a dedicated portal, formation of Joint Coordination Committees (JCC) with multiple meetings, sensitisation of police on red‑flag indicators, joint operations with agencies like BSF, financial investigation guidelines, capacity‑building programmes with US‑DEA, international cooperation via bilateral agreements and MoUs, launch of the 24×7 MANAS helpline, and the ‘Mission Drug Free Campus’ initiative. The Vision Document also proposes dedicated Darknet and Cryptocurrency Cells, AI‑enabled analytics, and consent‑based screening in higher education institutions.
