2nd BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group Meeting begins in Hyderabad

The 2nd BRICS Anti‑Corruption Working Group (ACWG) Meeting was inaugurated on 4 August 2026 in Hyderabad, with Secretary Rachna Shah as chief guest. The two‑day event, coinciding with the 2nd meeting of the BRICS Expert Network on Asset Recovery, focused on strengthening cooperation to trace fugitive economic offenders, support extradition, and recover illicit assets. Delegates discussed the BRICS Repository for informal cooperation, the Network of Law‑Enforcement Practitioners, and the operationalisation of the Expert Network on Asset Recovery. The Secretary highlighted technology‑driven measures such as digital identity, e‑procurement (GeM), Direct Benefit Transfer, and paper‑less taxation as tools to curb corruption.
