Glaw Lake becomes Arunachal Pradesh’s First Ramsar Site; India’s Ramsar Sites tally reaches 101

Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav announced that Glaw Lake in Arunachal Pradesh has been designated as India’s 101st Ramsar Site, marking the state’s first Ramsar wetland. The lake lies within the Kamlang Tiger Reserve and supports over 150 tree species and 49 orchid species. The Minister highlighted the growth of India’s Ramsar network from 26 sites in 2014 to 101 today, emphasizing the site’s contribution to biodiversity conservation, water and climate security, and sustainable livelihoods.
