Skill Development For Healthcare Professionals

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), under the Skill India Mission, is delivering skill, re‑skill and up‑skill training for healthcare professionals through schemes such as PMKVY, NAPS, JSS and CTS. PMKVY 4.0 lists specific healthcare job roles and the Ministry has launched a Multi‑Skilled Caregivers programme to skill 1.5 lakh caregivers (1.3 lakh via MSDE) as per the Union Budget 2026‑27. Since 2023‑24, over 1.2 lakh candidates have been trained under PMKVY, with additional trainees under NAPS, JSS and CTS, including 2,361 in Kerala. MSDE has also set up seven Skill India International Centres and facilitates overseas placements for healthcare workers through programmes like Japan’s TITP and Israel’s G2G caregiver scheme.
