Curriculum in ITIs
The Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship offers 170 NSQF‑compliant courses through ITIs under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS). Curriculum revisions are now undertaken every three years (previously five) in line with NCVET guidelines, incorporating technologies such as AI, IoT, Industry 4.0, green energy and digital skills. The process involves continuous stakeholder consultations with state governments, industry bodies, Sector Skill Councils, NSTIs, academia and employers. Forty CTS courses have already been revised; the remaining will be updated on demand. DGT has introduced 32 new‑age/future‑skill courses (e.g., 5G Network Technician, AI Programming Assistant, EV Mechanic) and reserves 30 % seats for women, with seven women‑centric courses identified.
