Indian Railways Records 9% Growth in Freight Loading in July 2026 Compared to July 2025; Loads Over 141 Million Tonnes in July This Year

In July 2026 Indian Railways loaded 141.3 million tonnes of freight, a 9 per cent rise over July 2025’s 129.7 million tonnes. Iron‑ore loading grew 22.2 per cent, coal 11.5 per cent, food grains 11.5 per cent, fertilizers 12 per cent and other goods 12.1 per cent. Domestic coal supply to thermal power plants rose 20 per cent year‑on‑year. Freight revenue increased by ₹1,137 crore (8 per cent) and passenger traffic rose to 63.35 crore passengers from 62.19 crore the previous year. The data underscore Indian Railways’ role in logistics, revenue generation and mobility.
