Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya felicitated India’s Commonwealth Games 2026 weightlifting medallists, presenting cash awards of ₹30 lakh for gold, ₹20 lakh for silver and ₹10 lakh for bronze. India’s weightlifters competed in 11 categories, winning eight medals (one gold, six silver, one bronze) and setting new Commonwealth records. The minister highlighted the role of Khelo India athletes and the Sports Authority of India’s National Centre of Excellence in Patiala, praised coach Vijay Sharma, and urged the medallists to visit schools and colleges to inspire the next generation. The ceremony underscored the government’s commitment to sport through schemes and incentives.
