Union WCD Minister, Smt. Annpurna Devi hails the stellar performance of India’s women athletes at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026

Union Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Annpurna Devi praised the performance of Indian women athletes at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026, noting that women secured eight of India’s thirteen gold medals. The medals came from Boxing, Weightlifting, Judo and Para Athletics, with five Indian women boxers each winning gold. The minister linked the success to the ‘Nari Shakti’ initiative and credited the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fostering a new era of sporting excellence among Indian women.
