Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Smt. Anupriya Patel Calls for Strengthening Organ Donation Movement as India Observes 16th Indian Organ Donation Day

On 3 August 2026, the Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Smt Anupriya Patel, marked the 16th Indian Organ Donation Day. She highlighted that India has crossed five lakh Aadhaar‑verified organ‑donation pledges and recorded 20,138 transplants in 2025 – the highest ever in a single year – placing the country third globally in total transplants and first in living‑donor transplants. The Ministry launched the ‘Jug Jug Jiyo Abhiyaan’ awareness drive, the unified digital platform ‘e‑प्रत्यारोपण’, and the NOTTO mobile app. National Brain‑Stem‑Death Certification Guidelines and Swap‑Transplantation Guidelines were also released to standardise practices.
