Shri Piyush Goyal Invites Indian and Uzbek Businesses to Co-invest and Co-manufacture; Calls for Doubling Bilateral Trade at India-Uzbekistan Business Forum

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal, addressing the India‑Uzbekistan Business Forum in New Delhi, invited Indian and Uzbek firms to co‑invest, co‑manufacture and co‑innovate, and urged a doubling of bilateral trade within three years. He noted that trade currently stands at about USD 1.5 billion and highlighted the recently concluded Bilateral Investment Treaty as a confidence‑boosting instrument. Goyal identified priority sectors – mining, textiles, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, agriculture‑food processing, information technology, digital public infrastructure, advanced manufacturing and automotive components – where complementarities exist. He called for removal of trade barriers, mutual recognition of standards and greater digitalisation of customs to enhance commerce.
