NCC ORGANISES CYCLOTHON 2026 TO COMMEMORATE 79 YEARS OF INDIA'S INDEPENDENCE

On 2 August 2026, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) held a Cyclothon in New Delhi to mark 79 years of India’s independence. The event, flagged off by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya and attended by Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, boxer Mary Kom and tennis player Leander Paes, featured 79 NCC cadets riding a symbolic 79‑km route under the theme “Clean India, Green India, Fit India”. Director General, NCC Lt Gen Virendra Vats led the ride, linking the activity to national missions such as Swachh Bharat, TB Mukt Bharat, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam and Har Ghar Tiranga, and promoting fitness, environmental stewardship and responsible citizenship.
