Handloom Hackathon 2.0 Concludes at IIT Delhi, Showcasing Technology-led Innovations for India's Handloom Sector

The Ministry of Textiles concluded Handloom Hackathon 2.0 – “Weaving Innovations” at IIT Delhi’s Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer, drawing over 2,500 participants and 280 finalists from the top‑100 shortlisted teams nationwide. The event provided a national platform for innovators, researchers, faculty and handloom experts to devise technology‑driven solutions addressing loom modernisation, design innovation, sustainability, market access and weaver livelihoods. Key outcomes included the announcement of a Centre of Excellence for Handloom Technology at IIT Delhi, the launch of the Indian Handmade Portal for e‑commerce, and the recognition of winning solutions in AI‑enabled livelihoods platforms, digital market tools, eco‑friendly dyeing systems and design innovations. The hackathon underscored collaborative efforts among government, academia and industry to enhance productivity, sustainability and competitiveness of India’s handloom sector.
