Union Health Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda Reviews Preparedness for NEET-PG 2026; Student-Centric Reforms to Ensure Smooth, Secure and Transparent Examination

On 1 August 2026, Union Health Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda reviewed the preparedness for NEET‑PG 2026, scheduled for 30 August 2026. The review covered NBEMS, technology partners and logistics, noting that 2,73,183 candidates have registered – a rise of over 12.5 % from the previous year – and that the exam will be held in a single shift across roughly 340 cities and 1,300 centres. The Minister highlighted security measures such as encrypted question‑paper handling, biometric (Aadhaar and iris) authentication, CCTV, signal jammers and deployment of more than 60,000 functionaries. Student‑centric reforms include three‑choice test‑location preferences, earlier city intimation, a 180‑question pattern in 210 minutes, and a dedicated email for reporting unfair practices.
