Revolutionising Sustainable Aquaculture: How VCF-SC Enabled a Scheduled Caste Entrepreneur to Build India's First Advanced Rainbow Trout RAS Facility

Smartgreen Aquaculture Private Limited, founded by Scheduled Caste entrepreneur Aditya Rithvik Narra in Ranga Reddy District, Telangana, has set up India’s first advanced Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS) facility for rainbow trout. The venture, backed by a ₹15 crore grant from the Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Castes (VCF‑SC) in 2022, boasts a water‑circulation capacity of 36 lakh litres and an annual production capacity of 360 tonnes. The project has generated 25 jobs, created assets worth ₹40 crore, and achieved a net worth of ₹8 crore, while promoting sustainable aquaculture practices and inclusive entrepreneurship.
