Indian Railways Approves ₹976 Crore Multitracking Project Between Danapur and Fatuha in Bihar of East Central Railway

Indian Railways has approved a ₹976 crore multitracking project on the 29 km Danapur‑Fatuha section of East Central Railway in Bihar. The work includes laying third and fourth lines between Danapur‑Patna, Rajendra Nagar‑Patna Saheb, and Patna Saheb‑Fatuha, aiming to decongest the busy Patna rail corridor. In the first year of operation, the added capacity will accommodate 22 extra passenger trains and 18 extra freight trains daily, handling an additional 5.2 million tonnes of freight annually. The project forms part of a broader quadrupling initiative on the Delhi‑Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction‑Patna‑Kiul‑Bhagalpur‑Khanna‑Howrah route, identified under the Energy, Mineral and Cement Corridor, and will support the forthcoming 2120 MW thermal power plant at Chausa, Buxar.
