DELIVERY OF SECOND INDIGENOUS DIVING SUPPORT VESSEL - ‘NIPUN’

The Ministry of Defence announced that the second indigenous Diving Support Vessel, ‘Nipun’, built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited, was delivered to the Indian Navy on 30 July 2026 at Visakhapatnam. Constructed per Indian Register of Shipping rules, the vessel is equipped for deep‑sea saturation diving, rescue operations, and houses a side diving stage, ROVs, and serves as a mother‑ship for a Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel. The ship has about 75 percent indigenous content, reflecting the government’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ drive and advancing indigenous shipbuilding capabilities.
