PARLIAMENT QUESTION: CANCER CARE FACILITIES

The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) oversees the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), which has expanded cancer care facilities across India. Since 2002, TMC added the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) in Kharghar and, in the last five years, commissioned four new Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospitals – New Chandigarh (300 beds, 24 Aug 2022), Visakhapatnam (210 beds, 11 May 2023), Muzaffarpur (107 beds, 30 Apr 2025) and a Platinum Jubilee Block in Mumbai (583 beds, under construction). Additional projects under construction include ICTREC in Khopoli (75 beds) and a hospital in Bhubaneswar (200 beds). The sanctioned costs range from ₹663.71 crore for New Chandigarh to ₹880.46 crore for the Mumbai block, with varying fund utilisation. Patient registrations at these centres have risen steadily, e.g., TMC Mumbai recorded over 53,000 patients in FY 2025‑26.
