33rd Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Memorial Music Festival Opens with Enthralling Classical Performances

The 33rd Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Memorial Music Festival was inaugurated on 29 July 2026 in Nagpur by the South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC) under the Ministry of Culture. The ceremony featured lighting of the lamp by Shri Vishwas Nangare Patil (Commissioner of Police, Nagpur) and dignitaries including chef Shri Vishnu Manohar, vocalist Padma Shri Shubha Mudgal, and SCZCC Director Smt. Aastha Karlekar. Padma Shri Shubha Mudgal performed a vocal recital comprising compositions in Raag Madhuvanti, Dadra, and Jhoola, accompanied by tabla, harmonium and tanpura artists. The evening also included a sitar recital by Shri Niladri Kumar, accompanied by tabla. The next day, a Marathi musical play "Devbabhali" will be presented.
