MSCS IN WEST BENGAL

The National Cooperative Database recorded 1,840 Multi‑State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) in India as of 15 July 2026, of which 73 are located in West Bengal. The Central Sector Project for Computerisation of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), launched in 2022, aims to bring functional PACS onto a common ERP‑based national software. The project’s coverage was expanded from 63,000 to 79,630 PACS, with the financial outlay raised from ₹2,516 crore to ₹2,925.39 crore. In West Bengal, 4,187 PACS have been sanctioned, receiving a total assistance of ₹50.79 crore (₹30.54 crore in FY 2022‑23, ₹15.25 crore in FY 2025‑26, and ₹5.00 crore in FY 2026‑27). The National Cooperation Policy 2025, unveiled on 24 July 2025 by the Home & Cooperation Minister, outlines six strategic pillars, 16 objectives and 83 recommendations, and is overseen by a National Steering Committee on Cooperation Policy chaired by the Minister of Cooperation and a Policy Implementation and Monitoring Committee chaired by the Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation.
