IndiaAI Mission Advances AI-Driven Governance and Public Service Delivery through Collaborative Roadmaps, Innovation Challenges and Capacity Building

The Ministry of Electronics & IT’s IndiaAI Mission, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, has identified 762 AI use‑cases across 62 ministries, approved 58 AI Centres of Excellence and 543 Data & AI Labs, and awarded 686 fellowships. Under its seven pillars, the mission drives a high‑end AI compute ecosystem, indigenous foundation models, application development, future‑skills labs, a unified datasets platform (AIKosh), safe & trusted AI frameworks, and startup financing. It has organised 11 national‑level hackathons and innovation challenges covering healthcare, agriculture, governance, climate, cybersecurity and finance, with several solutions already piloted. The mission also released India AI Governance Guidelines (Nov 2025) and initiated responsible‑AI projects, safety institutes and regulatory measures such as the DPDP Act to ensure transparency, accountability and data privacy in AI deployments.
