Assam Exports First International Consignment of Purabi Ice Cream to Bhutan

On 28 July 2026, Assam’s dairy sector achieved a milestone when the first international consignment of 5,627 litres of Purabi Ice Cream was exported to Bhutan. The shipment, flagged off by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, was manufactured by West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited and marketed by North East Dairy and Foods Limited. APEDA facilitated the export by handling documentation, regulatory compliance and market‑access support. The consignment targets key Bhutanese markets and includes cups, family packs, cones and gallon packs, aiming to boost value‑added dairy exports from the North‑Eastern Region and enhance income for Assam’s dairy farmers.
